02 — Best practices
So it scans on the first try
Five rules that make the difference between a QR that works and one people ignore.
01Minimum size
2×2 cm for short distances. Rule of thumb: scan distance ÷ 10.
02High contrast
Dark on light, always. Avoid weak gradients and color on color.
03Quiet zone
Leave a white margin around it (≈4 modules). No text or graphics stuck to it.
04Call to action
Say what the scanner gets: "See menu", "10% off". Multiplies scans.
05Test it first
Scan it with several phones and at the real distance before printing 10,000.
Golden tip
Always use a dynamic QR on print: if you get the link wrong, you fix it without reprinting.
Design it to your brand and download it
Export to vector SVG to print at any size without losing sharpness.
